Eric Carlson

Senior Software Consultant

Eric has more than a decade of web-based software and database development experience. He has been working with the Web since 1994 and the Mosaic 1.0 browser! His software development work experience spans a variety of fields including manufacturing, sales, K-12 education, corporate accounting and corporate legal. In the energy industry, Eric has particular knowledge of deregulated electricity markets as well as oil field equipment manufacturing.

As a senior consultant at Entrance Software, Eric provides technical leadership on many different projects. He works with other Entrance consultants to architect and build solutions to a myriad of business problems faced by Entrance’s diverse client base. Additionally, Eric works closely with Entrance’s project managers to define detailed requirements for new projects as well as develop technical effort estimates to complete those projects.

The focus of Eric's technical expertise is on the Microsoft "stack", specifically the .NET Framework, ASP.NET, SQL Server (including Reporting Services), Visual Studio, Visual SourceSafe, and Internet Information Services (IIS). He also maintains a working knowledge of valuable third party tools such as the Telerik RadControls for ASP.NET AJAX, Red Gate SQL Compare, and Red Gate SQL Data Compare. Eric's professional affiliations include the IEEE, IEEE Computer Society, ACM and Rice Engineering Alumni.

Outside of his professional responsibilities, Eric’s interests include radio communications, crime geocoding/mapping/statistics and personal finance. In the radio field, he maintains a working knowledge of conventional and trunked technologies with a focus on both business and government applications in the 30 MHz to 1 GHz range.

Eric graduated from Rice University in 2002 with a bachelors degree in Computer Science. He was a member of Baker Residential College.
